During my test flights, the Wasp performed exceptionally well in a variety of conditions. Whether I was zipping through obstacles on a freestyle track or cruising over open fields, the system delivered a rock-solid video feed. Even in crowded environments, I didn’t experience any noticeable interference, thanks to the dedicated frequency channels.

3.2 Performance Overview

3.2.1 Image Quality

RunCam really stepped up the image quality in the Eagle 3. Compared to the Eagle 2, it delivers sharper and more detailed images without over-sharpening. Colors look natural and balanced, fixing the blue tint that many pilots disliked in the Eagle 2.

Shadow details are excellent, just like the Eagle 2, which was a favorite feature for many pilots. This makes it a reliable camera for flying in environments with lots of contrast, like areas with trees and bright sunlight.

3.2.2 Low Light Performance

This is where the Eagle 3 struggles. The smaller image sensor doesn’t handle low light as well, leading to noticeable noise in darker areas. If you fly at dusk or at night, this might be a dealbreaker. However, for daytime flights, the performance is outstanding.

3.2.3 Usability

The camera is lightweight and compact, making it easy to install on most FPV drones. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

No UART Connection: To change settings, you’ll need to use the cable control dongle or configure through your flight controller.
No Built-in Voltage Detection: Unlike some other cameras, the Eagle 3 doesn’t show battery voltage in the OSD. You’ll need to rely on Betaflight OSD for that.

3.3 Who Is It For?

Built-in Gyroscope: Works seamlessly with Gyroflow for video stabilization.
Lightweight Design: Only 16.5 grams, perfect for micro and lightweight builds.
ND Filter Support: Included lens protector can be swapped for ND filters (ND4, 16, 32).
Power Input: Runs on 5V with low power consumption (2.5W).

4.2 Performance

The Thumb Pro delivers sharp 4K footage, a major upgrade from the original Thumb camera. Using Gyroflow makes stabilization easy, and the results are smooth and professional. White balance can shift in changing light, but locking it in settings can fix this.
